1. Deposits & Payments

Joining (Camping) Group Safaris & Day Trips

A deposit of 10% of the total package price is required to confirm your seat. This deposit is non-refundable, as it secures your place, park permits, and vehicle allocation for the group.

Private Safaris & Joining Safaris with Lodge Option

A down payment of 30% of the total package price is required to confirm your booking. The remaining balance is payable on arrival.

2. Rescheduling & Transfers

You may reschedule your safari to another available departure date, or transfer your booking to another traveler, once free of charge, provided we receive your request in writing more than 30 days before departure. This applies to all booking types, including Joining (Camping) Group Safaris, Day Trips, Private Safaris, and Joining Safaris with a Lodge Option.

Requests received within 30 days of departure are treated as a cancellation and subject to the cancellation charges below. Only one free reschedule or transfer is permitted per booking.

3. Cancellation Charges

All cancellations must be submitted to us in writing. The charge applied depends on your booking type, as balances are collected differently for each.

Joining (Camping) Group Safaris & Day Trips

Your 10% deposit is forfeited in full upon cancellation, regardless of how much notice is given, as set out in Section 1. Since no further payment is collected before arrival, no additional charge applies. However as stated under Rescheduling and Transfers you may reschedule your safari to another available departure date, or transfer your booking to another traveler,

Private Safaris & Joining Safaris with Lodge Option

Since only the 30% down payment is collected in advance (balance is due on arrival), refunds are calculated against the deposit already paid, not the full package price.otice before departure

45 days or more - Full refund, less any permit or park fee costs already incurred

44 – 30 days - 50% refunded

29 – 15 days - 25% refunded

14 days or less, or no-show - No refund

4. Non-Refundable Third-Party Costs

Park entry fees, conservation fees, and permits (including Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti, and any gorilla or chimpanzee trekking permits) are paid to Tanzanian authorities in advance and are non-refundable once issued, regardless of the tables above. Where such costs have already been incurred, they will be deducted from any refund due.

5. Group Minimum Departures

Joining Group Safari departures require a minimum number of confirmed travelers to run. If a departure does not reach the minimum group size, we will contact you at least 14 days before departure with two options: transfer to another confirmed date at no charge, or a full refund of all monies paid. This guarantee applies only when Join Group Safari cancels a departure — it does not apply to individual traveler cancellations.

6. Refund Processing

Approved refunds are processed to the original payment method within 14 business days of written confirmation.

7. Force Majeure

Where a departure is disrupted or cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control — including but not limited to extreme weather, government travel restrictions, border closures, or civil unrest — Bright Star Hotels and Safaris Co. Ltd will offer a credit toward a future departure. Cash refunds in these circumstances are subject to what we are able to recover from our own suppliers and partners.
